Mother mask, cast drawing by Miles-Johnston Mother mask, cast drawing by Miles-Johnston
Charcoal drawing

Something from the atelier. Finally finished bar a few tiny touches I might make tomorrow morning. Easily over 100 hours went into this though I long since lost count. Looking forward to starting the next one!

Wow, this is really gorgeous! I love how even though it is a face, it still looks like it is a cast of a face. Simply gorgeous! :meow:

I though it was a sculptur
my teacher tolde me "If you wanna draw a real looking picture, you can also take a foto, that's why they're not so popular."
a very sad fact, no matter how long it take or how much effort they gave it's simply not appreciated by the people. :worry:

I see your point, but this is a study and not intended to have any real value as an end product anyway. The real purpose is one of learning

I don't know if you'll be happy about my comment (one and only so far on deviantart). But I think it's really awesome. What's so splendid is you can just feel from the look the hard, rough and at some places smooth texture of the hair and then the face kicks in looking like smooth silk if you would touch it. I have no idea if it was intended or not and so if you will be happy or not. I'm not into "oh wow no smudging" but credit goes to that too I guess. I could watch it for all the over 100 hours you put into this loosing myself in the little details. The shadows really freak me out.

CHARCOAL? how do you keep it so clean? I work with pencils and I can barely keep it from smudging. GREAT work, and to think that you were patient on one piece for a 100 hours... that's something.

Beautiful rendering! I wish the grain effect wasn't as strong but this is otherwise a very solid study, it will serve you well I'm sure.
