Nike Cast drawing - finally finished by Miles-Johnston Nike Cast drawing - finally finished by Miles-Johnston
150+ hours, been working on this since the beginning of September. Fucking finally finished. Chalk and Charcoal on Toned paper, drawn from life. Time to start learning to paint with oils!

Wow absolutely gorgeous! Can I ask you a question? Im very interested in what technique you used for the proportions.. did you use the sight-sizing technique by measuring everything (like often used with Bargue) or did you just do it by eye and feeling? Just curious :-). Anyway, you did a brilliant job!

We don't use sight size at the school I go to as it can be a bit of a crutch, so I used a relative measurement method. Thanks for the kind words

ok , sincerely you are powerful !

But, dont you think hyperrealism itīs a waste of time?
i mean, itīs absolutely the same as a photography, an exact copy of something itīs BORING.
I prefer your mad imagination.
Cool!!!!!

I agree exact copies of photographs and hyperrealism are boring, but this is from life directly and I would argue only falls under the category of realism. More importantly it's a study that helps me to do the crazier stuff from imagination, it's an excersize about understanding the relationships between light form and value. Thanks! :)

excellent I saw the original statue last year, it's just awesome and you did an excellent work here (I've been watching your gallery, you're talented).
Did you copy it from a picture or from a real statue (or the original one)?
